Scuba Diving
Today I took a scuba diving explore course at my gym. The gym I am going to offered this course and therefore I signed up for this free adventure. It was a one hour session. First the instructor told us the basics and then we went in the pool. We all got to wear the whole equipment and to my surprise it was pretty heavy. And after a few safety instruction we finally went diving. Although it was only in a pool I had a great time. It was amazing and I had so much fun under water. I enjoyed every minute and it was a great adventure.

Mets Baseball Game
Today we went to a Mets Baseball Game. The New York Mets were playing the Arizona Diamondbacks and it was a great game. The Mets won this game 8 to 4 and I really enjoyed my first Major League Baseball Game. Although I still do not know all of the rules I got the idea and know the basic rules. We had a great time at City Field Stadium and we were all happy that the Mets won their fourth game in a row. The game lasted about three hours and the weather was just perfect. It was a nice sunny day and it did not rain at all. So that is how I spent my Easter Sunday.

Jamestown
Today we visited Jamestown, the first settlement of the United States. Jamestown was founded in 1607 so it is "only" 400 years old. For an European this is not really impressing. Still, it was a really interesting and historical place and I had a great time there. I went to the first English permanent settlement which is known as the United States of America today.

Colonial Williamsburg
Today we visited Colonial Williamsburg, a restored historic district of the city Williamsburg. The historic area includes 88 original 18th century structures. THe people living there are dressed up and everything looks authentically like the 18th century. It was really interesting and a really historical place. We had a great time and enjoyed the district.

Washington DC
This weekend I went with another au pair to Washington DC. We took the bus from New York City and after a four hour ride we arrived in Washington DC. We spent pretty much the whole Sunday in Washington DC and we have seen a lot. There are so many things to do in Washington DC so one day is way to less unfortunately. We only stayed at the National Mall. We went to the Capitol, which especially looks at night pretty amazing and then to the World War II Memorial and the Korean War Memorial. We also visited the Washington Monument, Thomas Jefferson Memorial and Lincoln Memorial. And of course we went to the White House which was not that big as it looks like on TV. After all the memorials and monuments we visited some museums such as the Holocaust Museum, the National Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of American History and a few others. We were really amazed what you can do in one single day. Although we have seen so much from Washington DC there is still so much to explore. We had a really great time in Washington and the weather was just perfect. It was a beautiful sunny day and the cherry blossoms looked so amazing. After a really busy and awesome day we went back to New York City again.

Lincoln High School Choir in New York City
This weekend part of the Lincoln High School Choir came to New York to perform at the Carnegie Hall. The choir will join 400 other high school choir members from the nation to perform Sunday at the prestigious venue. And my former English teacher was also on this trip so I took the chance to meet her in New York City. We had a great conversation and I am so happy that I met her again.
Four months to go
What can I say. Another month has passed and I am already eight months in the U.S. now. I still cannot believe how time goes by quickly. Only four months to go. It is just an incredible journey so far and I enjoy every minute in the States. In the last month I have done so much. I went to New York City a few times and visited the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, Ellis Island and lots more. And I played tennis for the first time in 2011 because the weather is finally getting warmer again even if we still had some snow last week. College kept me busy too. I started my research paper for my class and continue doing all the reading assignments.
